 In
1993, All-Star catcher, Ivan "Pudge"
Rodriguez and his wife Maribel formed
the Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez
Foundation. The foundation assists
families in the Dallas/Fort Worth
area and Puerto Rico whose children
are battling cancer. In its history,
the foundation has offered hope, opportunity
and support to hundreds of children
and their families.
Ivan Rodriguez realizes
that, as a professional athelete,
he has the ability to greatly influence
the lives he touches. The success
he has earned on the field is complemented
by his many contributions to the community.
He gains fulfillment from knowing
that he and his family are giving
children a chance for a brighter future.
On the field and
within the community, Ivan gives his
all. He is currently working on building
a sports center in his native Puerto
Rico. Ivan was the 2001 recipient
of The Jim Sunberg Community Achievement
Award. His Foundation has given in
excess of $225,000.00 in the past
three years to assist needy children
and their families.
