Artist Statement:
The purpose of my art is:
"To reflect
the creativity of the Creator. Whether
it be the grace, speed,
power and skill of the athlete, the
dignity of human life or the beauty
of God¹s creation.
To use the magic
of light and shadow to create the
illusion of three
dimensions on a two dimensional surface.
To delight in the
detail that forms the whole."
Vernon Wells
When
V.Wells started painting athletes
some 25 years, many of his early works
centered around his first-born son
as a toddler. Today, that son is Vernon
Wells, III His Bio is Vernon Wells,
III, the centerfielder of the Toronto
Blue Jays. In 25 yrs, Wells has done
more paintings for pro athletes than
anyone. The names on his client list
read like a Hall of Fame of the sporting
world. The V.WELLS technique consist
of rendering in pencil, followed by
acrylic paints applied by airbrush
and traditional brush, then detailed
with fine brushes and colored pencil.
If you haven't seen one of his original
paintings and his extensive portfolio,
it is absolutely something to behold.
The Ivan Pudge Rodriguez
Foundation has several limited edition
lithographs, signed and numbered by
the featured athlete and V.Wells for
sale. Proceeds benefit Rodriguezs
foundation as well as The Nolan Ryan
Foundation.
